How To Properly Maintain Your Vehicle?

Properly maintaining your vehicle between detailing appointments takes a little time and effort, but it’s necessary for the optimal performance of the protectants utilized, along with your vehicle’s overall aesthetic. While interior and exterior coatings are designed to help things stay cleaner for longer, we recommend performing a quick interior and exterior cleaning every two weeks. This rad routine will keep your vehicle in top-notch shape for as long as you care for it.

Performing a maintenance exterior wash is quicker and not quite as detailed as an exterior detail. You’ll still want to carefully hand wash your vehicle but you might choose to skip the detailing brushes and not get too into the weeds around the wheels. Remember, if you’re doing this every couple of weeks, there usually won’t be too much debris buildup in these smaller and tighter spaces.

A quick pass through the interior every couple of weeks will definitely keep the build-up of debris and other messes to a minimum. In most cases, quickly wiping all of the hard surfaces and the seats and then vacuuming will be all that’s needed. You might skip the detailing brushes around vents and other tight areas. This interior routine only works well if spills and other mishaps are addressed right away, when they happen. Leaving spilled milk to sit until your next scheduled maintenance cleaning will likely cause problems that could be avoided if it were cleaned up when the spill happened. So long as these types of things are addressed as soon as possible, the quick maintenance pass through your interior will work out great.

How should you properly maintain your vehicle if you frequently drive on unpaved roads?

If you frequently drive on unpaved roads, we recommend adjusting your maintenance schedule to weekly, when possible. Even the best exterior and interior protective coatings will allow that amount of dust to collect on low-angle and tight areas.

Don’t get us wrong here - these coatings are highly recommended for these clients of ours and anyone else who gets down with the Dirt Road Anthem or has those sand vibes!

Maintenance is much easier and quicker to perform when the vehicle is coated with protective layers, or skins, inside and out. Essentially, these coated surfaces become slippery for the debris. However, some of the tighter and flatter areas might allow the debris to stack. When it’s hit with soap and water it falls off much easier because the coating kept it from settling or absorbing into the base material.

It sounds like a lot!

If you’re like us, you’ll appreciate it though.

The various debris from unpaved roads can be blown through the vents and windows, it can etch glass, chip paint, and damage plastic. This type of micro-damage can lead to dull-looking paint, marred trim, and glass that appears hazy.

Aesthetics aside, there are several functional components that can suffer damage from this debris as well. Articulating step rails can get stuck. Similar risks apply to wheel and suspension components along with some engine and steering components.

Whether you frequent unpaved roads or not, the purpose of maintaining a thoroughly cleaned vehicle is the same - better-looking and safer vehicles out on the road.

Remember when driving was a whole vibe when we weren’t all rushing to get…there? Appreciating the sheer beauty of these magnificently engineered works of art is part of the vibe that can only be realized when vehicles are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.

Above everything else, we value family a ton. Being able to help people have safer vehicles is so important because it translates to safer family experiences, for you and for us, as we share our driving vibe together.
